Über die Duo Matinee Detlef Tewes (Mandoline) und Boris Björn Bagger (Gitarre)
Forum für kulturelle Zusammenarbeit Solingen-Minsk lud hervorragende Solisten ein
Virtuos und von spöttischer Heiterkeit

Zwei der weithin Besten ihres Instrumentes, Detlef Tewes mit seiner Mandoline und Boris Björn Bagger, Gitarrist und Hochschullehrer in seiner Heimatstadt Karlsruhe, stellen sich in den Dienst des „Forum für kulturelle Zusammenarbeit Solingen-Minsk” und ernteten im dicht besetzten Konzertsaal des Klingenmuseums mit ihrer Matinee stürmischen Beifall. Sie hatten sich zu der ungewöhnlichen Klangkombination von Mandoline und Gitarre zusammengetan, um einen erstaunlichen Brückenschlag zwischen Klassik und Moderne zu vollziehen, aber auch, um zwischen hoher Musik, Salon-Musik und einer blühenden Spiellust im Sinne von Pop-Musik zu vermitteln.
Dies gelang mit einer souveränen Heiterkeit, die aus blühenden Überschwang heraus das Nur-Virtuose hinter sich ließ und, so wie es der Mandoline ja zusteht, das Volkstümliche mit dem Anspruchsvollen verband. Die Mandoline läutete Italien und Spanien herbei, ließ südliche Sonne aufgehen, aber auch das schwarze Blut der Schwermut strömen und hatte zugleich hellen Spaß am Schmäh der Salonmusik.
Dieses Zusammenwirken von musikhistorischer Präsenz mit spielmännischer Laune gewann ganz eigene Größe und machte wie nebenbei mit vielerlei neuen Spieltechniken vertraut: Ob das verliebte Schnarren der Mandoline zu scharfer Präzision und eigenwilliger Größe gezwungen wurde oder ob das Feuer der Gitarre selbst weit über die eigentliche Mensur hinaus übereinstimmte.
Die Vereinbarung untereinander ist virtuos und doch zugleich wie von spöttischer Heiterkeit, so dass man Altes und Neues auf nie gehörte Weise erlebte, die Erinnerung an die Welt Shakespeare in den Klängen eines unbekannten Engländers, die Begegnung mit Niccoló Paganini, der vor seinem Weltruf als Geiger auch Mandoline und Gitarre spielte, die Entdeckung des Astor Piazolla, des Esten Lepo Sumera, die Klangentladungen von Willi Althoff, die dieser eigens dem Mann mit der Mandoline gewidmet hat, die Leidenschaftlichkeit eines Heitor Villa-Lobos oder gar die sensationelle Entdeckung eines Carlo Munier zum Schluss dieser traumhaften musikalischen Begegnung.

Bemerkenswertes:
Der "Teufelsgeiger" Niccolò Paganini spielte Mandoline und Gitarre.
Den Ruhm, der ihn unsterblich machte, verdankt Vittorio Monti einem einzigen Stück, seinem
„Czardas”. Dass er ihn ursprünglich für Mandoline komponiert hat, weiss heute kaum noch jemand.
Das Violinkonzert von Felix Mendelssohn-Bartholdy wurde oft in Kammerkonzerten gespielt, mit dem Komponisten am Klavier und dem Mandolinisten
Vimercati, der den Violinpart auf der Mandoline spielte.
